Teva likes the cool weather and fallen leaves!

This past week I just had to do it. I couldn’t help it. I had to turn the furnace on even though I do my best to wait until at least the middle if not the end of October to fire up the heater!

With as cold as it has been this past week, I hope that you are taking the time to turn off sprinklers, detach hoses from the spigots, cover any hose bibs or spigots. It is a painful sight to come home to a basement full of water because the hose was left on and it froze and busted the pipe…trust me!

And because we know that more cold weather is coming our way fast, have you thought about giving your home a weather tune-up? It is called an Energy Audit. Simple things to save you money on your energy bill includes installing a programable thermostat, weather stripping, and changing the filter in your furnace monthly to keep your furnace from working too hard, and your allergies appreciate it as well!

Keep posted!! It is not a fact yet, but the rumors are flying that the Home Buyer Tax Credit will continue on to 2010. Rates dropped below 5% recently and there still is a rush to capitalize on the great rates and low home prices.

Bikes on Tour

This Saturday we are going to be keeping it REAL…estate that is. Seriously, most first time home buyers tell me they need to keep the price range closer to $300k price range. So HBBTs selection of homes include 3 of them that are UNDER $300k!

So this week we will start at the Taza Cafe where I think I am going to try their signature drink, Horcha-tté, which is a perfect blend of Horchata and espresso. This Saturday is Tudor Tour!

Coming up for this Saturday are some wonderful homes selected in the Highlands, Berkeley and Grand View area. Melissa Nelson, will be guiding the tour. The ride will be an easy route heading out from Peaberry Coffee. Price ranges are mid $300’s to upper $400’s, several are focusing on Tudor style homes, with two Victorian in the mix. Most are exceptionally large for the NW Denver area, so if you are looking for a home with some space and move-in condition, this may be the tour for you.

This Saturday! Highlands Street Fair!

Because we think that the annual Street Fair is too much fun too miss, HBBTs will be taking a break Saturday, June 20th, so that we all can participate in such a great community event! Great food, music, vendors and a wonderful opportunity to hang out at really one of the best summer festivals right in our own back yard. So join the fun at the Highlands Street Fair and we’ll see you there!

Bridge at the South East end of Sloans Lake

The ride this past Saturday, was once again a joyful sunny ride taking place this time in the Sloans lake area. It is a pleasure to see great remodels. The listing at 3100 Stuart Street, is just one of those complete makeovers. I was in the home the last time it was on the market and I remember it being narrow, run down, and only something that a person with great vision was going to tackle. Well it appears that these owners did just that! It is delighfully open and the kitchen is lavishly done.

Local Artist displays work for sale

After out tour of homes, we happened upon a display of unique, handmade stained glass art that is for sale at 3456 W. 31st Ave, Denver 80211. The artist, Chad Reidhead, kindly showed us more of his work. If you are looking for a great addition to your backyard landscaping that can be lit at night, stop by and talk to Chad about his work. We were very impressed!

As always, touring with HBBTs reminds me of how great it is to be on a bike and checking out my neighborhood. As a resident in the NW Denver area for over nine years now, I am still wonderfully surprised as I turn the corner and notice something new. And you really can only get that by walking or biking…biking just allows you to cover more ground.
